I was out and about yesterday and managed to shoot pics of birds in the somewhat rural environment.
I have blogged before about the blue faced honeyeaters that frequent the palm trees in my backyard here. These are pics of the ones I saw yesterday.
Here is a photo of an unidentified bird. I’ve never seen this species before but I suspect it is a female bird due to its light brown colour . It looks at ease and probably socializing with the blue-faced honeyeaters.

Oh yes , you’re quite right. I ‘ve seen its male counterpart on my neighbour’s tree a few months ago and was thinking the same thing due to the eyes. Just checked in the Simpson & Day’s field guide to birds of oz to confirm and it had a clearer illustration of the female figbird as compared to Morcombe’s that I compared earlier. Thanks Mick.
